The Annual Homeless Assessment Report (AHAR) is an annual report to Congress about the number and characteristics of people who use homeless residential services and their patterns of use. The current AHAR can cover an entire CoC or a jurisdiction within a CoC, including the residential programs located in those areas. ART

ART, the Advanced Reporting Tool, is offered through our HMIS vendor, Bowman Systems. ART enables Bowman Systems to pull our local BAS-Net data from ServicePoint into an easy to use platform for the BAS-Net System Administrator. ART trainings are rather extensive and technologically “heavy,” so rather than training Agency Administrators on how to create their own reports, we are able to offer Art Viewer Licenses.

The Continuum of Care is an annual funding competition sponsored by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Continuum of Care funds come from federal McKinney-Vento Act dollars and are set aside to assist the nation’s homeless population through housing and supportive services programs. Read More.

Emergency Shelter Grant

The Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG) provides funding for essential services, operations and homeless prevention activities to emergency homeless shelters, transitional housing for homeless, and day/night homeless shelters. These programs provide basic needs of shelter, food, clothing, and other necessities, and many also provide case management, referrals, rental assistance and other services to individuals and/or families who are in need of assistance.

Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing is designed to Homelessness Prevention prevent individuals and families at risk of homelessness from becoming homeless and to assist persons experiencing homelessness to be quickly re-housed and stabilized. HPRP’s intent is to provide temporary financial assistance and/or services to help persons gain housing stability.

The federal Projects in Assistance for Transition from Homelessness (PATH) Formula Grant Program funds community-based programs to serve homeless people with mental illnesses and co-occurring substance abuse problems in every American state and territory. PATH provides formula grant awards to States for treatment, support services in residential settings, and the coordination of services and housing.

In collaboration with The John R. Oishei Foundation, the Homeless Alliance is the lead data collection agency for the Basic Human Needs Initiative (BHN) project. The Oishei Foundation, in response to the growing needs of Western New York residents caused by the national economic downturn, The John R. Oishei Foundation has convened a group of Basic Human Needs providers to work toward a strategy that will directly address the region’s growing issues.
