Do you have a few hours to spare from sunset 1/25/2017 to sunset 1/26/2017? Are you familiar with the general concepts of trauma-informed care?
The Point-in-Time Count is the annual census of all people in WNY experiencing homelessness in the last week of January. It is required by HUD and uses to assess need and capacity for the area. Its success has always been the result of the collaboration of service providers and interested members of the community.
This year will be the baseline for youth homelessness (HUD Category 1 only- residing in an emergency shelter or in a place not meant for human habitation – streets, parks, bus stations, etc) and our performance assisting youth will be assessed relative to the number of youth we find this year. As a result, we have an extra incentive to find as many young people as possible.
We especially are seeking outreach workers, people who have done the PIT in the past, and people willing to venture to the rural parts of the CoC. Please contact Christine Slocum ([email protected], 716-853-1101 x 108) with any questions. We will contact you in the first week of January.
Schedule sign-up will follow the training.
