Homeless Alliance of Western New York Joins Forces with the Supportive Housing Network of New York

BUFFALO –  The Supportive Housing Network of New York, the state’s leading membership organization and largest supportive housing, and membership and advocacy organization in the nation — representing over 200 non-profit organizations and more than 64,000 supportive housing units statewide — has officially welcomed the Homeless Alliance of Western New York as the newest member of its statewide coalition. This strategic alliance unites two of New York’s most influential entities dedicated to ending homelessness and expanding life-changing housing solutions across diverse communities.

As the only membership organization of its kind in New York State, the Supportive Housing Network has been at the forefront of advocacy, policy, technical assistance, and research aimed at creating sufficient supportive housing for the most vulnerable residents. Since its founding in 1988, the Network’s efforts have helped lead to tens of thousands of supportive housing units — homes paired with on-site services — that are proven to keep individuals stably housed and thriving.

The Homeless Alliance of Western New York brings deep regional expertise to the Network. The Homeless Alliance has been a cornerstone of the Western New York homelessness response system for more than two decades and serves as the lead Continuum of Care (COC) agency for Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Genesee, and Wyoming Counties.

Through this membership, The Homeless Alliance — which connects thousands of individuals annually to housing, services, and supports, and helps secure millions of dollars in funding for the community — will collaborate more closely with supportive housing developers, advocates, and policymakers across New York State. Together, these organizations will bolster shared efforts to advance permanent housing solutions that reduce reliance on emergency shelters, improve health outcomes, and strengthen community stability.
